Seattle is my hometown and what better city to feature for the start of an ongoing series on different cities throughout the world and the US to showcase images. Recognized as one of the most livable cities in the US, it has a culture and laid back attitude that makes it the perfect place to live.

Its that time of year where the county and state fairs offer some fantastic photo opportunities. Here are just a few inspirational photos to get you excited about bringing your camera to the fair. Think ferris wheels, Scrambler and food booths and you’ll be on your way to creating some fun images.

Seattle is in the rainy season now for at least the next four months or so. The days are short with darkness descending on us around 4:30. It’s been quite awhile since I picked up my camera because I don’t like to get my gear wet, so I thought I’d inspire readers and myself to get out and shoot some images. I thought it would be fun to share some great images from Flickr.com to inspire all of us as we sit huddled in our dark corners waiting for the sun to shine again.

Who would have thought that Google’s Street View images could be used as art? Well it seem that many photographers have decided to use this medium for various projects. Aaron Hobsen takes his images to the artistic level, searching the virtual globe for the perfect images. Using multiple techniques like stitching, contrast and highlight adjustments, he takes the boring images to an artistic level.
See Aaron’s work at Aaronhobson.com
Here are a few more links for a collection of street view images, though not quite as artistic as Aaron’s.

When I first saw this series of images of the Rainbow People I was completely mesmerized by Benoit’s style of portraiture. I went through each and every one trying to see what he does differently in the images to evoke such emotion.
These are just a few of my favorites to inspire you, but check out all his work at the following links.
His stranger project is fantastic!, He talks about how he started the project and approaches people.
“I started this project in 2007, my first goal when I started is to break the usual rule of dont speak to strangers, dont disturb people in a public space. So this is my approach at first: Questioning the modern world in which we are living and trying to break this individualism and the anonymity of the big city. By going into “Non-lieux” (no existing places) (subways, malls, and crowded streets at rush hours …;) and by talking to people to take photos, I break the usual way this modern world works for a few instants. I make real these “non-lieux” by creating an event that the stranger will remember. So all my model are stanger meeting in the street, trains, subway, mails, etc. These photography are a small selection of my 222 photography from this long term project. Each photograph has their own story, but for clarity here I chose not to write the story.”More images at 500px.com
